Photos From The Awesome Vault

30 Mar

This is a new segment dedicated to showing my readers how radical/retarded My life is at specific points in time.

This first installment was taken by Jess and re discovered 3 years later.

I can’t tell much about this picture, because I’m having a hard time remembering it.  But I can tell from the photo that it was taken on Jess and Jamie’s West patio in their previous apartment.  Good Work Guys!

I moved into the Historic Electric Building one month ago.  I really missed living in an actual apartment Building.  I’m allready beginning to miss having a backyard and animals but most importantly I miss having a Barbecue Grill.

However, I’m intrigued on a daily basis by Downtown Fort Worth.  It’s nice living in a place that is appreciated by it’s inhabitants.

Here’s a pretty amazing Heineken ad I found on The Denver Egotist.  (A really great site that appreciates good advertising.)

I really appreciate the Stock footage feeling, the antiquated costumes, settings and the subtle transition to a present day setting.  I think I’ll have a Heineken in a few hours.

Enjoy

It’s 1p.m. and I’ve already listened to 5 Green Day albums today.

SXSW 2009

18 Mar

It’s that time of year again!  I’m all packed up and ready to go to Austin, but I’m doing a few things different this year.  I’ll be helping my older brother Bubba Mark work on his property in Elgin.  Him and his lovely wife Laura are in the process of building a house and I’ll be there for a few days to lend a hand.  So I won’t be in downtown Austin durring business hours, so don’t call me.  I’ll probably be too busy shooting hand guns!

So during the day on Thursday, Friday and Saturday I will be busy but I’ll catch  up with you kids in the evenings.  Also, Sunday I will most likely be at the Greene Belt being a badass with this badass camera that the one and only badass Luke Lanter gave me, so if you’re tired of day drinking and don’t want to watch another DJ set then meet me at the Green Belt!  I’ll take your picture underwater!

What’s Your Personal Decor Style???

16 Mar

My Assistant made me take an online interior decor survey online this weekend.  It was actually quite a bit of fun.  I’m a huge fan of browsing interior design blogs, mostly Apartment Therapy, How About Orange and Erin’s Awesome Blog (just to name a few.)

If you go to Sproost.com you can take the same survey!  It takes a minute tops but I like to get side tracked, spending more time than I should analyzing different design elements in living spaces.  Here are the results from my Survey:

I am:

44% Vintage Modern

Flea Market, anyone? You know you are drawn to modern furniture and interiors, and yet you don’t like a space that feels cold and sterile. And who could blame you? That’s why Vintage Modern is so appealing to you. Though the backdrop of the room, the walls and windows, are many times white or monochromatic, the furniture and accessories have the color, shape and texture to bring the warmth into the space.

The great thing about Vintage Modern is ease of mixing different styles in the one space. You can have a new modular sofa mixed with a great pair of chairs that your grandmother purchased in the late 1950’s. The new and old work appear as though they were destined for each other. Even if you don’t have time for swap meets and garage sales, so many of the mid-century pieces were so great that they have been remade and mimicked year after year.

33% Hollywood Couture

decorology-sudan-home12main

“Welcome to Hollywood! What’s your dream?” That’s right, it’s time to roll out the red carpet and get ready for the sparkle of crystal and all things flashy that make up Hollywood Couture.

Glam style originated in high-end lifestyles that made up the years between the roaring 20’s and the swinging 40’s, where it was important to bring a feeling of glamour to the home when the world outside may have lacked it. Nowadays it’s scratching a similar itch in the sense that it’s bringing a sense of opulence to a world that seems to have forgotten how much fun it can be!

The great thing about the updated version of the style is how versatile it is. You can take it in any direction and add almost any style into the mix — perhaps a contemporary leather sofa paired with lacquered Louis XIV chairs that have been upholstered in lush velvet. The key is that each item feels as rich and over-the-top as possible and yet everything still seems livable. It’s not a space that screams: “do not touch” – rather it almost dares you to experience its luxury.

and 23% Cottage Chic

homesandgardenscom-main

Who says that cottages can’t be modern and chic? Who says that they have to be floral and cheesy? Not you!

You love the carefree spirit that the cottage interior inspires, but you are also serious about your appreciation for modern art and hip treasures. You love old and new alike, and love to highlight them all to expose the uniqueness of each. What better way to show off these treasures than with a light background?

Things I Would One Day Like To Own:

I found these brutal bathroom accessories on Spinning Hat, and they might just be abhorrent and amazing enough for my own bathroom!

So Cool.
